We had given up hope of her getting a new dress for Oireachtas until someone told us wonderful things about you on the Internet. After having one bad experience with another dressmaker I was not really looking forward to doing this again. But you were wonderful to work with. With Oireachtas coming in about two weeks, you made sure to get the dress done. (It only took you about 9 days) You are amazing! You really understood the look and design we were looking for and you were so easy and fun to work with. You can also tell how much joy you get from your work. When my daughter saw the finished dress for the first time, I don't know who's face beamed more, my daughter's or yours, while you watched her expression. She hadn't competed for almost two years and she wore her new solo costume to her first competition and won a first in jig and a first in Horn Pipe and I think that a big reason for that was her beautiful dress. The design you did was exactly the way we pictured it. I honestly think that picking out the colors and design was more fun than picking out my own wedding dress! I noticed at the feis's other girls looking at it because of the unique fabric you used. We couldn't be happier! We brought her to Dorothy, and together they worked out the colors and the design. Dorothy took care of every detail from design to fit. The outcome was a breathtaking solo dress that Melanie is absolutely thrilled with. Melanie and her sister have gotten compliments on their dresses at every feis they've danced in. In a few years I'll be begging Dorothy to expand her business to wedding dresses! Since my daughter Mallory took her first Irish dance class, she had dreamed of her first solo dress. I worried that there wasn't a dress maker in the world who could create a dress to live up to Mallory's expectations. Then we met Dorothy Ryan. From our first consultation with her we knew that she was going to pour her heart and soul into making the perfect dress for Mallory...and that's exactly what she did! When we were ready to take the "plunge" we felt very lucky to have found Dorothy. My daughter only had bits and pieces that she liked from many pictures of dresses and an idea of colors and a possible theme. Using that vague jumble of ideas Dorothy worked with us and made many helpful suggestions. Dorothy managed to bring it all together in a gorgeous dress that my daughter just loves. Her teacher recommended Dorothy Ryan, and so we called to get on a waiting list. We'd hoped for a dress by St. Patrick's Day. However, Dorothy found a window of opportunity to meet with us earlier than expected, and called us to come for a design and fitting consultation. Starting with our daughter's preferences for color and design, Dorothy helped her visualize a beautiful dress that complemented her hair and skin tone, and maintained the mood she was looking for. Our nine-year-old had such fun choosing her own fabrics, and making some grown-up decisions! Literally days later, we were back for the first fitting. Only days after that, we picked up the completed dress - just in time for her first feis competing at Novice level! The dress fully met the specifications of our daughter's dance teacher, who communicates with Mrs. Ryan frequently. Dorothy thought of everything, from a matching competitor number string for the waist, to complete tips on how to store the dress (for example, keep the cape in a pillowcase to protect the dress fabric from Velcro). The final product was even more beautiful than we had expected, and my daughter is thrilled and proud to wear "her" dress. We had a wonderful experience with Mrs. Ryan, and thoroughly recommend her! Cathy R Every Irish Dancer dreams of her chance to have her first solo dress made. As they get closer to that time they spend hours looking at websites and sketching ideas. The time came for my oldest daughter, and to Dorothy Ryan we were sent. Off we went with folder and ideas in hand. We spent just over an hour with Dorothy going over ideas, looking through books of patterns, her pulling out samples of colors and fabrics from this corner and that, then left with little swatches and very excited to see how the final product would look. Just 12 days later we were back to pick up the dress. I don't think any of us expected the final outcome to be so beautiful. With Dorothy's expertise for color and design, skill as a seamstress and love for making a perfect dress for each girl we came home with a gorgeous dress and a very happy dancer. To have such a talent as you do, not only sewing but as an artist. You really have a gift for doing what you do. You get an idea and the vision just comes to you. I have to tell you that I was really not looking forward to having another dress made for Kelly because of the hassle we have been through before. BUT ! You have made this experience the most pleasant one we have ever had. I guess the third times a charm. I can only hope that next time Kelly gets a new dress you will be able to do it again. This is all too good to be true, but I know it is and it's all because of you. You have made this all possible for Kelly and I have never been this excited about a dress for her than now. I am still dreaming about the dress every night. Just by even suggesting the dress might be done for Florida is amazing. I showed my husband the dress last night and he said you don't fool around.
